Job summary

Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, OH is seeking a part-time Arts & Education Instructor to design and deliver engaging curricula for 5–8 week sessions. You will prepare lessons, teach on time, and collaborate with staff to ensure high-quality arts education programs for members.

You will adapt to a variety of age groups, maintain classroom order, and participate in staff meetings while keeping safety and program quality as priorities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; degree or certificate is a plus.
• Mastery of a specialized talent, skill, or knowledge of the arts.
• Ability to teach and communicate with desired age groups for instructed class.

Responsibilities

• Design/plan curriculum for arts and education classes.
• Be prepared and on time for each class.
• Notify coordinator of changes and cancellations promptly.
• Arrange substitutes when needed and document class changes.
• Prepare class descriptions for newsletters and brochures.
• Collaborate with Arts & Education Administrator or Director.
• Maintain organized equipment and materials, and attend staff meetings.
• Follow safety procedures and report safety issues.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Details: Job Location: Lebanon, OH 45036, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $11.75 - $11.75 Hourly, POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The role of Arts & Education Instructors is to develop classroom curriculum and plan effective classroom structure to teach students in their professional field. In doing so, instructors offer our members a high quality of Arts and Education programs for 5 & 8 week sessions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design/plan curriculum for classes or lessons offered.
• Be prepared and ready to teach on time for each class.
• In the event of a cancellation, contact all participants of cancellation or time change of a class or workshop.
• Inform Arts & Education Coordinator of noteworthy changes; class changes or cancellations should not be altered during a session.
• When possible, provide advance for illness, absenteeism or finding a sub for your class.
• Write brief descriptions of classes for newsletter, brochures, and other necessary articles.
• Communicate with the Arts & Education Administrator or Director regarding problems or concerns.
• Keep equipment and materials in good organized condition.
• Attend Arts and Education staff meetings
• Follow all safety and risk management procedures and report any safety issues to your supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned if required by business necessity.

Qualifications: EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or equivalent, degree or certificate is a plus.
• Mastery of a specialized talent, skill, or knowledge of the arts
• Ability to teach and communicate with desired age groups for instructed class

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Experience in curriculum planning for arts education or programming
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Provide materials and specialty items for classes as required by the developed curriculum
• Experience working with the public and diverse cultures;
• Must work as part of a team while using good judgment and functioning with minimal supervision
• When applicable, should have experience working with general office equipment and appropriate technology including computer hardware and software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Must be able to climb stairs or bend/lift/stoop to assist with setup and break down of equipment or other items required for programs.
