Job summary

Berklee College of Music is looking for a student worker to help plan lessons, create educational materials, and assess students. Ideal candidates are graduate students in Music Education or related fields with knowledge in arts education for individuals with disabilities.

This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, along with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment. Competitive hourly rate of $51.50.

Job description

Eligibility Requirements
  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half‑time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work despite not yet having an official GPA.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
Responsibilities
  • Plan lessons and classes.
  • Create educational materials.
  • Keep careful attendance records.
  • Assess students using rubrics.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and recitals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Student worker – Graduate student in Music Education; student in one of the Autism‑based graduate programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of arts education for people with disabilities, special education, Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction, experience with people with disabilities and/or their families.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, creative and proactive thinking.
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work independently and thrive in a high activity area.
  • Lesson planning skills, teaching skills in the arts for people with disabilities.
  • Desire to learn and grow as a teacher with constructive support and feedback.
  • Openness to constructive, supportive feedback.
Compensation and Hiring

Hourly Rate: $51.50.

Hiring Manager: Rhoda Bernard.

Interview required; students must receive significant training for the position.
