Job summary

The Salvation Army in Biloxi, MS is seeking a part-time Arts & Crafts instructor for the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps. The role involves teaching crafts, leading sessions, and engaging participants with a friendly, service-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Two years experience performing/leading arts & crafts; or equivalent.
• First Aid Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct members in arts and crafts fundamentals (pottery, painting, drawing, ceramics).
• Conduct arts and crafts classes; demonstrate techniques and ensure member participation.
• Maintain order during activities and ensure safety and cleanliness of area.
• Assist supervisor by scheduling classes and matching activities to member expectations.
• Provide excellent customer service to members and promote other activities.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Ms Gulf Coast Ray and Joan Kroc Corps - Biloxi, MS 39530, Position Type: Part Time less than 20, Salary Range: $20.00 Hourly, Job Category: Education, Schedule/Hours: Part-time – 2 days a week / 8 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructs members in the fundamentals of arts and crafts activities (to include pottery, painting, drawing, ceramics, etc.).
• Conducts arts and crafts classes; demonstrates proper techniques and ensures member involvement and personal desired outcomes are achieved.
• Maintains order and control over members participating in arts and crafts activities.
• Ensures the arts and crafts area and supplies are clean and free from debris at all times. Identifies potential hazards and responds appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Assists the supervisor by assessing the need for additional classes or rescheduling of daily activities; ensures the schedule of activities matches member expectations.
• Provides excellent and courteous customer service to members of the RJKCCC; maintains awareness of and promotes other activities; encourages continuous attendance.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to perform in front of a large audience.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time while leading or performing in an arts and crafts demonstration.
• Work is performed in a normal community center environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. AND
• Two years experience performing and/or leading arts and crafts projects OR
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• First Aide Certification
