Job summary

YMCA of Southern Maine in Freeport, Maine is seeking an Arts and Crafts Program Counselor to support planning, preparation, and daily facilitation of creative activities for campers. You will foster a fun, inclusive environment where campers express themselves through hands-on art projects and build confidence in creativity.

The role collaborates with staff to ensure activities are organized, engaging, and enjoyable for all participants during the June 8th–August 21st camp period in Freeport, ME.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Copy of necessary certifications and/or training certificates.
• Previous Junior Counselor or equivalent experience.
• First Aid & CPR Certification.
• A Criminal Background check is required, including fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision to a large-group program aligned with YMCA mission.
• Deliver a safe, engaging, age-appropriate camp experience for campers.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings to align with camp goals and policies.
• Plan, organize, and implement quality activities for all campers.
• Ensure health and safety of each camper and model positive behavior.
• Support camp assemblies, family nights, and special events as assigned.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and report absences to the Camp Director.
