In this role, you will be tasked with creating and developing visual art projects aimed at promoting the initiatives of the Department of Environmental Protection. Responsibilities include a range of design activities requiring proficiency in graphic design, illustration, typography, color theory, and art reproduction. Projects include logo creation, publication design, infographics, social media advertisements, email campaigns, web graphics, story maps, custom illustrations, photography, posters, signage, and exhibits. Precision and specialized skills in graphic software and various art media are essential to deliver high-quality designs. You will collaborate with agency personnel to discuss project goals and devise innovative, efficient visual solutions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch
• Telework: You may work from home part-time, up to 3 days a week, if you have a secure high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, you can report to the Harrisburg headquarters.
• Salary: Starting at $44,890 annually for new employees to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training

• Two years as an Artist Illustrator I (or equivalent federal job title), or
• Three years of progressively responsible art experience, including illustration and exhibits work; plus two years of formal training in fine arts or design
• Equivalent art experience may substitute for training on a year-for-year basis
