Job summary

Bednark Studio Inc. in New York, NY is seeking a Finisher to join a highly collaborative team of artists working on scenic and millwork projects.

You will contribute to the finishing of both scenic and millwork pieces, from prep to final finish application, and maintain a working knowledge of HVLP sprayers, airless sprayers, and various finishing tools. Travel on-site for touch-ups may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of scenic/millwork finishing or painting experience.
• Proficiency in patching, seaming, sanding, painting with brushes and rollers, and HVLP spraying.
• Working knowledge of carpentry techniques.
• Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
• Ability to use ladders and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Participate in finishing scenic and millwork pieces from prep to final finish.
• Maintain knowledge of finishing tools (HVLP sprayers, airless sprayers, sanders, polishing wheels).
• Mix paint and match custom colors as needed.
• Apply faux finishing techniques under direction of Lead Scenic/Finisher or Finishing Manager.
• Assist with sanding, patching, priming, and preparation of high-quality finishes on various materials.
• Travel onsite for touch-up calls or onsite finishing work.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with peers and supervisors.
• Work quickly and efficiently while meeting deadlines.
