Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an Artisan Business Development Representative in CA or OH, offering a hybrid work arrangement. You will build strategic broker and agent relationships, market to-producing partners, and drive new business growth with a focus on gross written premium growth and renewal retention.

Under supervision, you will conduct sales calls, train brokers via webinars, and manage existing blocks of business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
• 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in the area.
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication with confidentiality.
• Advanced organizational and analytical skills; multitasking ability.
• Knowledge of industry changes and regulatory updates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word.

Role Overview

Under supervision, identifies, develops, and maintains strategic relationships with current and potential producers of profitable business within assigned marketing region.

• Responsible for managing broker/agent relationships and developing new business by marketing to brokers and agents within assigned territory.
• Responsible for new business through outside sales and marketing to brokers and agents within assigned territory.
• To include new business submissions growth and gross written premium growth. Specific targets will be identified based on territory.
• Responsible for renewal retention. Specific targets will be identified based on territory.
• Foster additional business opportunities through writing of correspondence and attending trade shows.
• Responsible for prospecting and onboarding new agency relationships.
• New agency registration goals will be set based on territory.
• Conduct sales calls to cultivate and maintain long‑term client relationships.
• Conduct broker and agent training using webinars and other web conference utilities.
• Manage and increase existing blocks of business.
• Develop a strong relationship with brokers and agents through phone and electronic communication and resolving client issues in a timely fashion.
• Develop and maintain database of current and prospective producers.
• Monitor competitor pricing and industry trends to identify marketplace characteristics.
• Monitor producer quote ratio, close ratio, renewal persistency and loss ratio.
• Adapt marketing strategy as needed.
• Develop and implement specific marketing strategies and materials.
• Ensure sound working relationships with clients and other company departments by acting as the point of contact.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, legislative changes, other industry news relative to the business and respond proactively to changing business needs.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
• 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in area of specialization
• Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
• Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
• Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Pay Transparency

The pay range for this position is $79,000-$117,000, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range TMHCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate's geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
