Job summary

TRAX International in Maryland seeks a skilled artillery maintenance technician for a temporary assignment through December 2026, with a potential to become permanent. The role involves hands-on inspection, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of towed, self-propelled, and turret artillery and mounts such as Stryker and Abrams.

Responsibilities include measuring and ensuring safe operation, and operating overhead cranes.

Qualifications

• Three years of automotive mechanic experience or two years in artillery.
• Overhead Bridge Crane license within six months.
• Ammunition Certification Level I within six months.
• Forklift License.

Job description

* Position until December 2026 with the possibility of becoming permanent. *

Serves as a working crew member.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspection, cleaning, disassembly, repair, and replacement of parts and assemblies, and the adjustment and reassembly of towed, self-propelled, and turret artillery and their associated mounts and carriages. This includes Stryker, Abrams, and other large caliber direct fire weapon systems.
• Takes measurements and ensures safe operation of the artillery and equipment
• Operates overhead cranes

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Must have three (3) years experience as an automotive mechanic or two (2) years military background in artillery, which includes using common hand tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and spring weighting machines
• Must possess an Overhead Bridge Crane operator license within six (6) months of employment
• Must possess an Ammunition Certification Level I in accordance with ATC Regulation 350-8 within six (6) months of employment
• Must possess a Forklift License

Physical Qualifications

• The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment and sometimes in the field where you are subject to the environment
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted
• Must be capable of kneeling, bending and standing while performing maintenance duties
• Must be able to distinguish colors
• Must be able to ascend and descend equipment
• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening periodic retests
• Must be able to successfully complete a background screening
• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment

Rate of Pay/Benefits

Hourly Rate: $47.66
