Envision Recruitment is helping a Series A startup hire a Research Scientist in San Mateo to own research into continual learning, fast adaptation, and memory formation. You will develop new learning methods and see them deployed into a real product used by customers.

The role requires deep research experience and a PhD with publications in leading AI/ML venues, plus a passion for applying cutting-edge AI research to real-world problems. Relocation support may be considered.

Envision Recruitment are supporting a Series A startup on a mission to build an AI engineer capable of solving complex engineering problems in the physical world.

They've recently raised $50m in Series A funding and are now looking for a Research Scientist to own their research into continual learning, fast adaptation, self-improving systems and memory formation.

You’ll be developing new approaches to how AI systems learn from experience, retain knowledge and become progressively more intelligent.

Most excitingly, you’ll see your research deployed into a real product being used by customers!

You should have:

• Deep research experience in continual learning, fast adaptation, self‑improving systems or memory formation
• A relevant PhD and publications at leading AI/ML conferences
• Experience developing new learning or adaptation methods, rather than simply applying existing RL algorithms
• A passion for taking cutting‑edge AI research into real‑world applications

The role is onsite in San Mateo, California, with relocation support considered.

The salary is $200k–$400k base + equity, and a potential sign‑on bonus.
