Job summary

Key duties include configuring Kona Site Defender, Bot Manager, API Security, incident response, and proactive security tuning in line with OWASP Top 10 principles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Akamai security experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Akamai WAF onboarding and migrations from monitor to deny mode.
• Tune Kona Site Defender policies and analyze false positives.
• Manage Bot Manager, API Security, DDoS, and Client Reputation controls.
• Troubleshoot AI/LLM traffic and WAF-triggered events.
• Support security improvements and AI protections.
• Prepare security dashboards and executive status updates.
• Assist with migration, DNS, load balancer, and traffic cutover activities.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Akamai with AI Engineer with of Akamai experience to support enterprise-scale WAF onboarding, application migration, security policy tuning, API security, and AI/LLM security. The candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, network, and security teams to protect internet-facing applications and improve security controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Akamai WAF onboarding and application migrations from monitor/alert mode to deny/mitigation mode.
• Configure and tune Akamai Kona Site Defender policies and analyze false positives.
• Manage Akamai Bot Manager, API Security, DDoS, and Client Reputation controls.
• Troubleshoot AI/LLM traffic, API requests, and WAF-triggered security events.
• Support AI Security / Firewall for AI capabilities and emerging agentic AI protections.
• Monitor and analyze WAF security events, attack patterns, and suspicious traffic.
• Perform incident response, production troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Apply OWASP Top 10 security principles and recommend web/API security improvements.
• Support application migration, DNS, load balancer, proxy, firewall, and traffic cutover activities.
• Partner with application owners, infrastructure teams, security leadership, and Akamai engineering/product teams.
• Prepare security dashboards, metrics, reports, and executive status updates.
• Support quarterly WAF upgrades, policy reviews, security tuning, and technology roadmap initiatives.
