Job summary

Pipestone Area School District seeks an AI Instructional Coach to support teachers in integrating artificial intelligence into classroom instruction. The coach will work with educators to build confidence and capacity in using the district-selected AI tool to enhance teaching, learning, and student outcomes with a student-centered focus.

This role focuses on practical classroom application rather than technology troubleshooting, emphasizing coaching and instructional support across grade levels

Qualifications

• Minnesota teaching license or equivalent preferred.

Job description

Position: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Instructional Coach

Work Schedule: Approximately 2 days per week during the school year

Reports To: Building Principal

Collaborates With: Teachers, instructional staff, support staff, building and district leadership

Position Summary

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Instructional Coach supports teachers in the thoughtful, effective, and responsible integration of artificial intelligence into classroom instruction. The coach will work alongside educators to build confidence and capacity in using the district-selected AI tool to enhance teaching, learning, efficiency, creativity, and student outcomes with a student-centered focus.

This position is primarily a teacher-coaching and instructional support role, with an emphasis on practical classroom application rather than technology troubleshooting.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coach and collaborate with teachers to identify meaningful opportunities to integrate the district-selected AI tool into instruction, planning, assessment, and professional practice.
• Model effective AI-integrated instructional strategies and, when appropriate, demonstrate lessons or co-teach with classroom educators.
• Provide individualized and small-group coaching based on teacher needs, grade level, content area, and instructional goals.
• Help teachers develop effective AI prompts, workflows, instructional activities, and learning experiences.
• Support educators in evaluating the accuracy, appropriateness, bias, and instructional value of AI-generated content.
• Promote responsible and ethical use of AI, including student privacy, academic integrity, appropriate attribution, and age-appropriate use.
• Collaborate with instructional and support staff to identify effective practices and share successful classroom applications.
• Provide informal professional learning and resources to build staff capacity with AI.
• Stay current with emerging developments in artificial intelligence and their implications for teaching and learning.
• Communicate regularly with the building principal and curriculum coordinator regarding coaching activities, emerging needs, successes, and opportunities for continued development.
• Support the district's vision and expectations for responsible and effective AI implementation.

Qualifications

• Minnesota teaching license or equivalent educational experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success as a classroom educator, instructional coach, technology integrationist, or related educational role.
• Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning practices.
• Demonstrated interest and growing expertise in artificial intelligence and its application to education.
• Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships with educators.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, modeling, and facilitation skills.
• Commitment to student-centered learning and the responsible, ethical use of technology.

Performance Expectations

The successful candidate will serve as a coach and capacity buildernot an evaluator. The AI Instructional Coach will approach the work with curiosity, professionalism, flexibility, and a growth mindset, helping educators move from experimentation with AI toward purposeful integration that improves teaching and learning.

Contracted Expectations

The successful candidate will serve the district as the instructional coach for at least two days per week for 32 weeks beginning in September and concluding in May of each school year. The exact schedule to be determined in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinator with input from the building principal(s).

Compensation

Compensation will be paid in a range of $20,000 annually. Benefits include earned safe and sick time.
