Short Description

The Art Therapist will plan, organize, and provide therapy to create a caring and therapeutic environment, addressing the mental health needs of patients and positively impacting their and their families' reactions to hospitalization.

The Art Therapist will promote positive coping skills and provide opportunities for growth and self-expression through art, play, and learning.

Responsibilities

1. Provide Art Therapy services in Pediatrics, PICU, and adult Psych units.
2. Facilitate therapeutic interventions, both individual and group, to promote development, self-expression, and emotional processing.
3. Assess psychosocial needs and develop or adapt care plans accordingly.
4. Document interventions and services promptly in the electronic health record.
5. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient- and family-centered care.
6. Delegate duties to Activities Assistants and volunteers; supervise practicum students as needed.
7. Adhere to standards set by the American Art Therapy Association.

Experience Required

0-2 years of experience required; 3-5 years preferred. Experience with children or in a medical setting is preferred.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Art Therapy.

License/Certification Requirements

Registered Art Therapist - Provisional (ATR-P) required. Board Certified (ATR or ATR-BC) preferred. Provisional credential must be obtained within 6 months of hire if a new graduate.

Skills/Qualifications

Excellent communication skills required to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge of cognitive, social, and emotional development in children required. CPR-BLS certification preferred.

Additional Requirements

Full-time position, 36 hours per week.

Salary Range

Min: USD $21.00/hour

Max: USD $34.00/hour
