Job summary

KVC Health Systems, Inc. seeks an Art Therapist to deliver trauma-informed, creative-therapy sessions for youth in residential care. You will collaborate with the treatment team to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being through art-making.

The role requires a Master’s in Art Therapy or related field, ATR/ATR-BC certification, and supervised post-graduate experience. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered with six-month vesting.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Art Therapy or related field from an accredited program.
• ATR or ATR-BC certification required; valid driver’s license.
• Supervised post-graduate art therapy experience; intermediate computer skills (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Six months to one year experience in art therapy with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the Treatment Team.
• Maintains knowledge of client history, plan of care, and discharge plan.
• Documents timely and accurately.
• Works with clients individually and in groups.
• Schedules and conducts therapeutic art activities.
• Provides timely, fiscally responsible supply requests.
• Promotes community integration of clients.
• Manages storage and tracking of art supplies and equipment.
• Writes clinical reports from an artistic perspective.
• Consults with staff on art therapy issues to improve treatment quality.
• Maintains art therapy credentials and regulatory compliance.

Job Summary

The Art Therapist will implement trauma-informed and therapeutic activities within the creative process of art making to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children and youth receiving residential services. Therapist will collaborate as an active member of the treatment team.

Education

A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Art Therapy, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology, with supervised post-graduate art therapy experience.

Licensure/Certification

Art Therapist - Registered (ATR) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) required, Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Experience

Supervised post-graduate art therapy experience. Requires intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email.

Preferred Experience/Skills

Six months to one year experience. Preference given to experience providing art therapy to youth receiving mental health services.

• Consults with staff on art therapy issues to increase quality and efficiency of treatment services
• Maintains art therapy credentials
• Maintains compliance with state, federal, and TJC guidelines

Additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and staff qualifications.

Physical & Work Environment

This role involves a mix of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with regular use of office equipment. You’ll work in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
