Description:

We seek candidates with excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for working with energetic students, and the ability to foster positive relationships within the school community. This position is for an Art Teacher, Long Term Substitute, for the 2025-2026 school year. SDST is dedicated to diversity and welcomes all qualified candidates.

Our K-12 Art Department Vision:

Our Visual Arts program is committed to offering inclusive, equitable, and accessible K-12 Art education through Culturally Responsive pedagogy aligned with the National Visual Arts Standards. We aim to develop students' art appreciation, skills, and craftsmanship across disciplines including 2D, 3D, and digital arts, exploring diverse cultural references globally. We encourage students to express complex ideas through personal visual expressions and community projects like exhibitions and public art, fostering connections to future careers in the arts.

We are hiring for our High School team, working with grades 9-12. Our art courses may include Art I, Ceramics I & II, and other departmental offerings such as Introduction to Art I/II. The successful candidate will contribute to our vision by enhancing our visual arts programs. Responsibilities are not limited to those listed and may include other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Active PA Art K-12 certification required.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Education required.
• Experience in 3D Art (ceramics and/or glass work) preferred.

Job Requirements:

• Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.

Terms of Employment:

Full-time, Long Term Substitute position, starting August 25, 2025, through the end of the 2025-2026 school year, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

If hired externally, the following will be required before employment begins:

• State Police Clearance (Act 34)
• Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
• FBI Fingerprints (Act 114)
• School Health Record (physical & TB test within the past year)
• Act 24 (PDE Form 6004) - Arrest/Conviction Report
• PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release, including separate forms for current and former employers involving direct contact with children.
