Description: ART TEACHER (K-6) FULL TIME Multiple Positions Available FY 2025-2026 Cherokee County, GA

Cherokee Classical Academy seeks Art Teachers for grade levels Kindergarten through 6th grade. The art teacher has responsibility for designing significant learning experiences in studio art, art history, and art appreciation for select elementary grades. They are expected to demonstrate high moral character and have mastery of the subjects they teach. Teachers will work collaboratively to create a working and learning environment for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. This position starts July 2025. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Developing and implementing course, unit, and lesson plans based on the Hillsdale K-12 classical curriculum’s scope and sequence.
• Guiding students to enjoy, appreciate, and interpret art in their daily life.
• Demonstrating an understanding and mastery of central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the visual arts, effectively transmitting this knowledge to students, and making the subject matter meaningful to them.
• Engaging every student in grade level appropriate learning experiences that promote artistic, intellectual, and moral development.
• Encouraging and promoting the coordination of art with other subject areas in the curriculum.
• Determining the materials to be used in instruction and planning the best methods for presenting them.
• Assisting in planning, preparing, and presenting programs, field trips, and festivals for the school.
• Evaluating student performance in art.
• Assisting the head of school and staff in inventorying, organizing, ordering, and caring for art materials and equipment.
• Maintaining students’ grades.

Qualified Candidates Will Meet The Following Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college is required.
• Valid teaching certification in Georgia is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required.
• Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

About Cherokee Classical Academy:

Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school set to launch in Cherokee County, GA. It will open for grades K-6 in the 2025-2026 school year and will continue to add a grade each year until reaching a full K-12 configuration. Families who reside in the counties of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, Paulding, and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta are eligible to apply for enrollment.
