Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach to promote a love of art in students.
  2. Develop and execute clear, organized, and sequential lessons suitable for students' developmental levels, aligned with instructional objectives.
  3. Vary classroom strategies to accommodate different learning styles, actively involve students, and maximize engagement.
  4. Implement district and state curriculum standards, ensuring instructional activities are aligned accordingly.
  5. Assess students' skills and performance using various approaches, providing feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  6. Adapt and modify instruction for students requiring specialized support.
  7. Maintain and organize instructional materials and equipment for easy access.
  8. Collaborate with school staff to meet diverse social and academic needs of students.
  9. Communicate openly with students and parents/guardians regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  10. Assist in implementing policies and rules related to student conduct, positive behavior support, and classroom management.
  11. Reflect on teaching performance, accept feedback, and incorporate supervisory suggestions.
  12. Participate in staff and district meetings and inservice training.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Valid Massachusetts teacher's license with appropriate endorsement and grade level authorization. Must be highly qualified or able to become highly qualified per NCLB laws.
  • Content knowledge in the subject area(s) taught.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Must hold a teaching license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Proficiency in a second language such as Khmer, Spanish, or Portuguese is a plus.
