Job summary

Hamtramck Public Schools seeks a classroom teacher to create a flexible, developmentally appropriate and creative environment where children can grow personally, build social skills, and integrate the arts into daily language development and academic skills.

The successful candidate will plan engaging lessons, maintain records, communicate with families, collaborate with staff, and participate in school improvement initiatives within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
• 2. Bachelor's degree including all courses to meet credential requirements.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small-group instruction.

• Maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps records, and reports progress.
• Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and other means about curriculum, assessments, and progress.
• Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff to address social, emotional, and academic issues.
• Creates an effective and welcoming environment for learning through displays, materials, bulletin boards, and websites.
