Job description

You Belong Here

At Rambam Day School, we believe teaching is about relationships, curiosity, and helping every child feel seen, valued, and capable. We are looking for passionate, thoughtful educators who love children, believe in their potential, and want to be part of a warm, collaborative school community.

Our teachers nurture the whole child intellectually, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially by creating classrooms where students feel safe to explore, ask questions, take risks, and grow. We value educators who bring curiosity, empathy, and creativity into their practice and who see families as true partners in a child’s learning journey. At Rambam, you’ll find a supportive environment where your voice matters, collaboration is encouraged, and innovation is celebrated. If you’re excited to make a meaningful impact and grow alongside a dedicated team, we would love to meet you.

Position Overview

The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive K–5 visual arts program that nurtures creativity, builds technical skills, and integrates Jewish holidays, values, and culture. The ideal candidate brings strong studio experience, particularly in ceramics, along with excellent organizational skills and a passion for community engagement.

Your Role

As an Art Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered art lessons aligned with school goals and state/national standards.
  • Teach across a range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, and age-appropriate digital art.
  • Assess and document student progress through portfolios and process-based evaluation.
  • Safely operate and maintain kilns and ceramic equipment, including managing firing schedules and glaze preparation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment with clear safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with facilities for equipment maintenance and studio logistics.
  • Play a leadership role in school-wide events, including:
    • Annual Auction (student artwork contributions and displays)
    • Spring Fair (schoolwide art showcase featuring every student)
    • Celebration Day & STREAM initiatives (cross-disciplinary, art-integrated programming)
  • Collaborate with faculty to highlight student work and strengthen a cohesive arts and STEAM culture.
  • Create yearbook illustrations with fifth grade and contribute visual content for school publications.
  • Plan and coordinate six art-related field trips annually to museums, galleries, and community arts organizations.
  • Partner with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
  • Use Veracross (or similar systems) to manage grades, communication, and documentation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience teaching elementary art (K–5) with a strong student portfolio.
  • Classroom management and organizational skills.
