Roles and Responsibilities:
- RISCA seeks Public Art Program Coordinators to add to its public art management team. Working on a temporary, per-project basis, team members will coordinate and facilitate the acquisition of artworks under the State's law, the Allocation for Art for Public Facilities act, aka "Percent-for-Art" law.
- Team members will work under the direction of RISCA's Executive Director and Public Art Director in administration of assigned projects. Employment is per-project and hours per week and month will vary. A typical project will span 6 months and entail on average 100 hours work.
- Tasks include coordination with agency partners, architect and construction team; communications with selection panel; scheduling and running meetings in compliance with the Open Meetings Act; filing agendas and minutes; communications with artists; presentations to the Council on the Arts; preparation of contracts and invoices; and all associated documentation.
- The successful applicant will possess knowledge of art in the public realm; materials and genres; possess strong organizational and communication skills; and enjoy working on collaborative projects. Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is a must. Ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail is a must. Program Coordinators must comply with the state's employee dress code.
- The bulk of the work will occur remotely. Public Art Program Coordinators will need their own computer.
- Optional, preparation and installation of artwork for exhibition is desirable. Experience in curation and administration of exhibitions is desirable. The ability to lift 50 lbs and use a ladder is desirable.
