Art – Part Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Art at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Primary responsibilities include teaching studio or lecture classes and working with colleagues to continue to develop curricular offerings. Lecturer positions may be eligible for a benefits package depending on the credit load taught each semester.

This is a pool of part‑time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part‑time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned MFA degree, or its equivalent, in the field of study or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with an inclusive and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
  • Working knowledge of historical and contemporary art and art practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group and individual critiques.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with students.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized and use digital platforms to deliver content.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant performance and professional experience.

Appointment and Salary

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month.
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.
The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Legal and Background Information

Applicant will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last seven years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.

Background checks are required. The offer is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified.

Applicants who are in a rehire scenario after a break of 12 months or more must have a current background check within the past 12 months.
