Pay Rate: Starting at $15.00 per hour
(Also includes some Park District Facility/Program Usage Benefits)

Hours: Various hours

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Art/Special Events Manager, the Art Instructor is responsible for creating and implementing art-based curriculum and leading students through various lessons

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create and implement lessons for all ages
  • Create example and Demonstrate project steps
  • Assist students with projects including set-up and clean up
  • Engage students in the creative process to help develop their skills
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with participants, parents and staff
  • Work within a budget
  • Work with Arts/Events manager to devise age appropriate art projects that work with supplies available
  • Perform the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
  • Maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Art/Special Events Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate the ability to provide leadership
  • Organized, creative, flexible, and effective communication skills
  • Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Three to five years of experience in the art field and/or teaching
  • College degree in Art or related field preferred but not required
