Job summary

Wizards of the Coast in Renton, WA is seeking an Art Director to lead visual strategy for Magic: The Gathering collectible cards. You will shape aesthetics, direct design teams, and push specialty print methods from concept through final production.

You’ll collaborate with creatives, production artists, and manufacturing partners to translate ideas into manufacturable, high‑impact card experiences. A strong portfolio and mastery of print production are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional graphic design and/or art direction, ideally with physical products.
• Hands-on experience with specialty print, offset printing, prepress, color separations, materials, and finishes.
• Portfolio showing visual judgment, art direction, and physical print execution.
• Advanced proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator with print-ready file prep.
• Strong communication and collaboration, balancing creativity with manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Concept and pitch specialty print finishes, partnering with creatives and suppliers.
• Provide production artists with clear direction from concept to final execution.
• Analyze print-ready files, proofs, and samples to ensure quality.
• Explore visual trends and emerging print tech to enrich Magic card design.
