Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a hands-on Art Director to partner with the Research team on creative concepts, visual direction, and design. You’ll help define how research stories look and feel, working directly with researchers while keeping scientific accuracy central to the creative approach.

You’ll collaborate with filmmakers, designers, and marketing partners across web, social, film, editorial, and experiences, and you’ll stay hands-on while guiding others to carry the visual concept through

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in art direction and graphic design.
• Strong hands-on design craft and a distinct creative point of view.
• Ability to translate complex research concepts into clear visuals.
• Experience collaborating with researchers, filmmakers, and marketers.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity in evolving research agendas.

Responsibilities

• Partner with researchers to define visual direction for stories and demos.
