ARNP, PAC, Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant, APP, Advanced Practice Provider

Position Summary: This position welcomes Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant with experience in pediatrics to apply. Prefer background in Child Abuse Pediatrics, alternatively Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Orthopedic Medicine, Trauma Care or Primary Care serving children of all ages. Seeking an Advanced Practice Provider passionate about pediatrics and a desire to give back to their community. Daily duties include evaluation and examination of children suspected to have sustained abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) or neglect, and acute sexual assault. Provider will also be required to serve in court as an expert witness. Provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to include investigative agencies (DCF and law enforcement) as well as clinical and non-clinical staff. Weekend and overnight call coverage essential for assessment of acute cases and hospital coverage. APP also to provide education and training for medical providers (including resident training) and community partners to ensure the community and medical professionals learn to identify abuse within their professional setting. Willing to train new graduate with the appropriate qualifications and education.

Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic evaluations and medical consultations regarding abused and neglected children
  • Attend team staffing, as necessary
  • Prepare medical reports of evaluations and medical consultations in CPTIS
  • Participate in after hours on call, as scheduled for additional compensation
  • Successful completion of a minimum of eight hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

  • Acts as a role model and resource person for staff.
  • Participates in review and revision of policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Establishes relationships with professionals of other health-related groups within the community.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families.
  • Participates in basic science and clinical research projects.
Qualifications
  • APRN Licensure in the state of Florida to practice professional nursing and certification in advanced or specialized pediatrics or family medicine nursing practice
  • PA Licensure in the state of Florida to practice medicine and nationally certified by the NCCPA
  • Experience in the evaluation and treatment of child abuse and neglect or agree to receive training deemed necessary by the department for evaluating alleged abuse and neglect
  • CMS approved Advanced Practice Provider
