Job summary

Monroe County Hospital & Clinics in Albia, IA, is seeking a part-time ARNP/PA for our Emergency Services team.

You will perform histories, examinations, order tests, develop care plans, and counsel patients; must have ARNP licensure or be eligible in Iowa, with ER experience and CPR/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ARNP program.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
• Emergency department experience preferred.
• CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications or ability to obtain.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
• ATLS or equivalent within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtains complete histories, reviews records and performs physical exams.
• Orders appropriate labs/imaging and interprets results with physician review.
• Prescribes therapies and instructs patients and families on medications and treatment.
• Performs routine procedures and assists in life-saving interventions as needed.
• Counsels patients on health, nutrition, and disease management.

Job Description

Monroe County Hospital & Clinics is seeking a part‑time ARNP/PA to join our Emergency Services team.

Primary duties for this position include:

• Obtains complete, detailed, and accurate histories, reviews patient records, and performs complete physical examinations as scheduled or required.
• Performs general patient examinations related to the patient’s stated medical problems to establish diagnosis and develop an appropriate care plan.
• Requests appropriate laboratory and radiological procedures related to patient’s condition to assist in diagnostic assessment. Interprets results as appropriate with review of physician.
• Requests appropriate therapeutic pharmacological regimes related to the patient’s diagnosis and condition and instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.
• Performs routine therapeutic procedures including injections; care of superficial wounds and burns; removal of foreign bodies from skin; application of and removal of sutures and casts; and other procedures as appropriate.
• Recognizes and evaluates situations which call for immediate attention of primary care physician and institutes, when necessary, treatment procedures essential for the life of the patient.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding their physical and mental health including: diet, social habits, family planning, normal growth and development, aging, and long term management and understanding of patient’s disease.
• Follows Universal Precautions/Infection Control policies. Uses appropriate personal protection equipment and work practice controls when necessary; uses sterile or aseptic techniques when required.
• Maintains positive relationships with the health care team, patient, and family.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Job Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
• Previous experience in an emergency room setting.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification or ability to obtain.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient information.
• Mandatory reporting certified or within 90 days of hire.
• Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational requirements.
• Proof of acceptable liability insurance coverage.
• Must maintain eligibility for federal DEA registration and state of Iowa controlled substances registration.
• ATLS or within six months of hire.
