INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
QUALIFICATIONS
- Meets the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications, including an associate’s degree, 48 hours of college credit, or passing the ParaProfessional Praxis test.
- May be employed on a part-time or full-time basis.
- Meets health and physical qualifications.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide assistance to teachers, administrative assistants, and clerical personnel when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Administers, scores, and records achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher for individual students.
- Facilitates student interventions with guidance and support from classroom teachers.
- Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
- Distributes and collects technology, workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
- Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned.
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
- Follows safety rules and proper procedures related to the job.
- Records attendance.
- Arranges bulletin boards.
- Types and duplicates tests, worksheets, and supplementary materials.
- Assists in supervising children during lunch, recess, and bus loading.
- Helps prepare materials for class displays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
