INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meets the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications, including an associate’s degree, 48 hours of college credit, or passing the ParaProfessional Praxis test.
  • May be employed on a part-time or full-time basis.
  • Meets health and physical qualifications.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To provide assistance to teachers, administrative assistants, and clerical personnel when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Administers, scores, and records achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher for individual students.
  2. Facilitates student interventions with guidance and support from classroom teachers.
  3. Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
  4. Distributes and collects technology, workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
  5. Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  6. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned.
  7. Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
  8. Follows safety rules and proper procedures related to the job.
  9. Records attendance.
  10. Arranges bulletin boards.
  11. Types and duplicates tests, worksheets, and supplementary materials.
  12. Assists in supervising children during lunch, recess, and bus loading.
  13. Helps prepare materials for class displays.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
