Job description

As a Transportation Management Coordinator, you'll plan and schedule transportation for troops, cargo, and equipment worldwide. You will document and inventory freight shipments, prepare cargo for travel, and coordinate transportation for Soldiers and other personnel.


Job Duties:

  1. Mark, label cargo and freight shipments in accordance with regulatory requirements
  2. Document and inventory freight, cargo and materiel shipments of all types
  3. Perform system administrator duties such as installing software and uploading data to computer systems
  4. Prepare equipment, cargo and personnel for travel to airports, seaports and railways
  5. Request and coordinate transportation to meet a movement mission

Eligibility:

  1. Must have an interest in joining the Army.
  2. 17 to 34 years old.
  3. Must be able to meet height/weight requirements
  4. No tattoos on hands, face, or above the neck (ring tattoos are acceptable)
  5. No history of a felony level offense.
  6. No major medical procedures that would prohibit you from service. (please feel free to ask specific questions).

Requirements:

Those who want to serve must first take (ASVAB), a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.


Training:

Job training for a transportation management coordinator requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and six weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.


Helpful Skills:

  1. Interest in motor vehicles, aircrafts and ocean liner vessels
  2. Experience in coordinating transportation
  3. Interest in planning events and working with people

Required ASVAB Score(s): Clerical (CL): 95

Total compensation includes housing, medical, food, special pay, and vacation time.
