Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking an experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in U.S. Army technical publications to support mission-critical programs.

This role requires developing and revising complex manuals and logistics documents to Army standards, collaborating with engineers, logisticians, and government stakeholders, and traveling up to 25% for fielding activities. Hands-on experience with IETMs and Arbortext is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years developing U.S. Army technical publications.
• Knowledge of Army standards MIL-STD-40051 and TM/IETM guidance.
• Experience with IETMs using IADS or equivalent systems.
• Hands-on Arbortext or similar structured authoring tools.
• XML/SGML-based authoring for technical docs.
• DoD security clearance (if required).

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical publications per Army standards.
• Produce and update maintenance and operator manuals and logistics docs.
• Use IADS to develop and manage IETMs.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, SMEs, and government representatives.
• Translate complex data into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Update legacy documents reflecting changes and field feedback.
• Ensure compliance with Army standards and configuration management.
• Support QA/QC reviews and IETM validation; manage document lifecycle.
