Army Practical Nursing Specialist (68C)

The practical nursing specialist supervises or performs preventive, therapeutic, and emergency nursing care procedures under the supervision of a physician, nurse, or NCO.

Job Duties:

1. Perform emergency nursing care.
2. Assist in patient care.
3. Change/dress wounds.

Training:

1. Job training for a practical nursing specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 52 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Skills you’ll learn:

1. Patient care.
2. Working on a medical team.
3. Emergency care.

Eligibility:

1. Must have an interest in joining the Army.
2. 17 to 34 years old.
3. Must be able to meet height/weight requirements *See calculator below.
4. No tattoos on hands, face, or above the neck (ring tattoos are acceptable).
5. No history of a felony level offense or DUI.
6. No major medical procedures that would prohibit you from service (please feel free to ask specific questions).
