Job summary

U.S. Army General Surgeon roles offer a frontline position at the intersection of patient care and military medical advancement.

You will examine, diagnose, consult, prescribe treatments, and perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees, and their families within a world-class military health care team. This path includes ongoing education, specialized trainings, and conferences to advance medical leadership within the Army Medical Department, with opportunities across Active Duty and Army Reserve

Qualifications

• Must have Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited US school.
• Must hold current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship.
• Must have completed a training program in general surgery.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty.
• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members.
• Participate in continued education programs, trainings, seminars and conferences to learn and collaborate.
