Job summary

BTI Security is seeking armed security officers in the Washington, DC area. The role involves patrolling, access control, and monitoring cameras to protect federal, state, and commercial sites.

Applicants must hold a DC Armed Security Guard Card, active DC Armed SPO, OC spray, Baton, and demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills. CPR/First Aid certification is required along with standard background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years verifiable experience as armed security officer.
• Current and valid DC Armed Security Guard Card/permit.
• Active DC Armed SPO, OC aerosol spray, Baton.
• Customer service driven mindset and strong communication.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling and monitoring exterior and community areas on-premises.
• Access control of entrances and exits for employees and visitors.
• Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activity.
• Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
• Use magnetometer and X-ray machines as required by post.
• Communicate clearly using provided radios; respond to incidents.
• Perform CPR or first aid when needed; maintain contract credentials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Project Manager.

Job Skills / Requirements

• Armed Security Officers perform a variety of security-related duties depending on the post.
• Patrolling and monitoring exterior and community areas on-premises.
• Access control of entrances and exits and departure of employees and visitors.
• Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
• Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures per contract.
• Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents that may have occurred.
• Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines.
• Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios clearly and concisely.
• Performing CPR or first aid when needed.
• Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, a General Education Degree (GED) recognized by the U.S.
• Associates Degree
• Two (2) years of verifiable experience as an armed security officer
• Must have a current and valid DC Armed Security Guard Card/permit
• Must have an active DC Armed SPO, O.C. aerosol spray, Baton
• knowledgeable of the security industry
• Must have a customer service driven mindset
• Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers/clients.
