Base pay range

$18.85/hr - $31.30/hr

Position Details:

• Evenings 1:30 pm - 10 pm and Nights - 9:30 pm - 6:00 am available
• Weekend shifts required
• Performing public safety and security duties inside and outside the hospital.

Role Purpose

The Armed Security Officer provides continuous patrols of the Barnes Jewish Hospital / St. Louis Children’s Hospital / Washington University Medical Campus, within St. Louis City, being attentive and alert to the safety and welfare of visitors, patients, volunteers, staff, employees, and hospital property. Interacts with residents and visitors to St. Louis City and communicates with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Certifications required within 12 months of hire include: ASP Baton or Taser, CPR/AED, CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Pressure Point Control Techniques, Armed Security Officer’s License.

Responsibilities

• Individuals must be 21 years or older to work in this position.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations within the hospital and medical campus according to established protocols.
• Prevent losses and report irregularities, violations of policies, and suspicious activities.
• Mitigate crisis situations, respond to disturbances, fires, crimes, and maintain compliance with legal requirements.
• Complete reports by recording observations, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining signatures.
• Secure premises and personnel; monitor surveillance equipment; inspect buildings and access points.
• This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.

Minimum Requirements

• No experience required
• Valid Driver's License

• Two years of experience
• Certifications: ASP Baton, CPR/AED Instructor, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, PPCT, Armed Security License
