Description

Summary:

Uniformed position at all times. Armed Security Officer's duties include being a visible deterrent to criminal activity, providing security for patients, associates, and visitors, protecting and patrolling hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned. The Armed Security Officer is responsible for responding to all emergency codes, disaster events, conducting investigations, and performing other security tasks as directed by supervisors or managers. Flexibility in hours and ability to rotate between facilities, including travel, is required. Uniforms must be worn in accordance with dress code policies.

Responsibilities
  • Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
  • Conduct security patrols of facilities and grounds.
  • Identify and report security trends and recommend actions.
  • Take initial incident information, document accurately, and submit reports promptly.
  • Respond courteously to service requests via various communication channels.
  • Handle lost and found items, valuables, and personal property according to policy.
  • Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and laws.
  • Manage facility parking through patrols, citations, towing, and explanations.
  • Assist with combative patients or visitors.
  • Perform client care responsibilities suited to age-specific and developmental needs.
  • Operate security systems, including CCTV, radios, and overhead paging.
  • Generate electronic reports and correspondence using PC.
  • Report safety hazards observed during rounds.
  • Adapt assessment and care methods to meet individual needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with security equipment and non-crisis intervention.
  • Handle exposure to aggressive behavior, hazardous conditions, and weather extremes.
  • Perform physical activities such as walking, standing, lifting, and restraining.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be mentally alert with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to make immediate decisions and prioritize tasks.
  • Handle stress and potential violence effectively.
  • Minimum two years armed security experience preferred; military service may substitute.
  • Law enforcement and healthcare security experience preferred.
  • Active Level 3 Certification (Texas) required; other states' requirements vary.
  • Complete required training within specified timeframes, including de-escalation, BLS, baton, tactics, firearms, and certifications.
  • Pass pre-employment assessments and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Complete FEMA courses IS-100.c, IS-200.b, and IS-230.d.
