Armed Security Officer - Mother Frances Hospital Jacksonville

Uniformed position at all times. The Armed Security Officer's duties include being a visible deterrent to criminal activity, providing security for patients, staff, and visitors, and patrolling hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned. The officer is responsible for responding to emergency codes, disaster events, conducting investigations, and performing security tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager. Flexibility in hours and ability to rotate between facilities and travel as necessary are required. Uniforms must comply with dress code requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
  • Conduct security patrols of facilities and grounds.
  • Identify, report trends, and recommend actions on security issues.
  • Prepare incident reports accurately and submit promptly.
  • Respond courteously and promptly to service requests via various communication methods.
  • Handle lost and found items, valuables, medication, and personal property according to policy.
  • Enforce CHRISTUS Health rules, policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Manage parking enforcement, including citations, towing, and explaining rules.
  • Assist clinical and non-clinical staff with difficult situations.
  • Perform assigned client care responsibilities respecting age-specific needs.
  • Operate security systems including CCTV, radios, and overhead paging.
  • Use PC to generate reports and electronic correspondence.
  • Report safety hazards observed during rounds.
  • Adapt care methods to meet individual needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with security equipment and crisis intervention.
  • Handle exposure to aggressive behavior, hazardous conditions, and weather.
  • Perform physical tasks including walking, standing, lifting, and restraining as needed.
  • Maintain alertness, communication skills, and decision-making abilities.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 2 years armed security experience preferred; law enforcement or healthcare security experience a plus.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Varies by state, including security officer commissions, de-escalation, BLS, and training in weapons and tactics. Must pass assessments and background checks. Valid driver’s license required.
