Summary
The Armed Security Officer III/Sergeant (Sgt) has full authority and responsibility for ensuring performance objectives and standards identified in the contract are met at a specific location during their shift. The Sgt is responsible for exercising leadership, maintaining high morale, and directing the performance of all security personnel assigned to their shift. The Sgt will communicate with the Captain (where applicable), Site Project Manager, and client. The Sgt will administer services for site-specific day-to-day operations as described in the contract, oversee vehicle inspections, liaise with the client, respond to emergencies, assist in the security of special events, and coordinate incident evidence to present to the client.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all duties safely.
- Administer instructions to security personnel and ensure familiarity with the facility and duties.
- Promptly notify the chain of command of all unusual, emergency, or significant situations concerning security personnel.
- Verify that officers receive and understand instructions.
- Assist in investigations and report findings to the chain of command and the client.
- Maintain oversight of special assignments and events as directed by the client.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment used at the site.
- Review and ensure clarity, completeness, accuracy, and legibility of reports.
- Keep post orders and operations manual up-to-date.
- Lead security personnel in emergencies requiring immediate action.
- Maintain daily liaison with contract officials to meet contract terms and client expectations.
- Have complete authority over assigned personnel to ensure quality work.
- Serve as a Site Trainer as needed.
- Work beyond normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Supervise all security personnel on the site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years old.
- Two or more years’ experience in law enforcement, security, or military service.
- Meet ISC Best Practices for Armed Security Officers in Federal Facilities.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Meet physical and medical standards outlined by ISC and DHS requirements, including PAT testing.
- Satisfactorily qualify with firearms and complete FLETC training courses.
- Pass drug and psychological tests.
- Adhere to COVID vaccination and government employment verification requirements.
