Job summary

ARUP Laboratories, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a security officer to protect facilities during evening and weekend shifts (Thursday–Saturday, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM). The role requires carrying a firearm per policy, managing access, patrolling, and reporting incidents.

A Utah driver’s license, a valid private security license within 90 days, and a background that includes 2 years in security are required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent or better.
2 years of security officer or related experience.
Psych evaluation and physical fitness test prior to employment.
Light armed security training and Utah Private Security Officer license within 90 days.
Fluency in a second language is preferred.
Licenses: Driver License and Private Security Officer.

Responsibilities

Carries a firearm and uses it according to policy.
Controls access to the facility via admittance; screens visitors and employees.
Patrols assigned site to detect hazards, security violations, or unauthorized persons.
Observes and reports incidents to management or public safety as appropriate.
Monitors building access, grounds, and parking lots.
Prepares logs, reports, and other security documents.
Investigates criminal or non-criminal activities as assigned.
Responds to calls for service and provides escorts as needed.
Educates employees on safety and security policies.
