Job summary

Cambridge Security Services in Miami is seeking a Floating Armed Security Officer to perform armed patrols by foot or vehicle, monitor CCTV, control access, and document incidents in a professional, high-end environment. This role requires open availability for any shift, no guaranteed weekly hours, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies while delivering excellent customer service.

Candidates must hold Florida Class D and G security licenses, a valid driver’s license, pass background

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Able to pass background screening and drug test.
• Able to pass a mental health assessment.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized people to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
• Aid customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

Position Overview

The benchmark of American security has an immediate job opportunity for a Floating Armed Security Officer in Miami. As an Armed Security Officer, you will conduct armed foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior), control access and egress, monitor CCTV and alarm systems, compose reports, deter criminal activity and misconduct and perform other duties as specified in post orders

The Floating Security Officer may be called upon to work irregular shifts at times with little to no advance notice to cover call offs, vacation leaves, and/or extra coverage requests.

Logistics and Compensation

• Location: Miami, FL
• Job Type: Hours vary
• Pay Rate: $19.50 to $20.00 an hour

Availability & Schedule

• Candidates need open availability to work any shift and any day.
• This job does not have a permanent set schedule. We cannot guarantee a specific number of hours each week.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Indoor and outdoor assignments. Exposure to various weather conditions
• Major Activities: Extended standing, walking, and sitting. Listening, observing, communicating
• Environmental Exposure: Ability to perform duties in both indoor and outdoor settings. Must be capable of working in diverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain, for extended periods.
• Hazardous Conditions: Occasional exposure to high-stress situations, including responding to emergencies or physical disturbances.
• Stationary & Mobile Positions: Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing), walk for extended periods, traverse the property, or move between posts for the duration of an 8-hour shift, or as operationally required. Must be able to maintain constant alertness and professional posture throughout the assigned period.
• Patrol Requirements: Ability to continuously walk on various surfaces including pavement, grass, and uneven terrain while conducting interior and exterior rounds.
• Emergency Response: Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations, which may include running, climbing stairs, or navigating obstacles.
• Sensory Abilities: Must have the visual acuity to monitor CCTV and observe surroundings, and the auditory ability to respond to alarms and communicate via two-way radio or telephone.
• Physical Maneuverability: Frequent reaching; occasional squatting, kneeling, or stooping to inspect vehicles or property.
• Lifting & Strength: Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds. This is typically required only in response to emergency situations, the relocation of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, traffic cones), or the removal of hazards from the property.
• Effective Communication: Ability to clearly exchange information, provide instructions, and draft written reports in English.
• Cognitive Load: Must maintain mental alertness and attention to detail during long periods of observation.
