Armed Security Officer (25-26 SY) - School Safety and Operations

Position details:

  • Pay Grade: Facilities 10
  • Duty Days: 200
  • Pay Frequency: Biweekly
  • Eligible for Armed Security Stipend: $15,000 annually (pro-rated based on start date for the 23-24 school year)
  • This position is eligible for a Letter of Assurance
PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under general direction, provide a safe and secure school environment, foster an optimal learning environment, and act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by patrolling the campus, enforcing policies, monitoring security cameras and visitors, and reporting unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • 3-5 years in Law Enforcement, Armed Security (Level III Security Certificate), or active-duty military
  • Texas DPS-Issued valid License to Carry, required
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of emergency operations, NIMS, FEMA, health and safety laws
  • Experience with security technology (cameras, access control, etc.)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Pass fitness, pistol qualification, and psychological evaluations as specified
Major Responsibilities
  • Patrol and monitor campus for safety and security
  • Display professional behavior and dress appropriately
  • Assist emergency personnel and visitors, enforce visitor protocols
  • Report emergencies, unsafe conditions, and violations
  • Participate in training and follow safety procedures
  • Maintain security of campus property and facilities
Working Conditions

Work involves outdoor and indoor environments, physical activity including lifting, standing, and walking, and exposure to various weather conditions. Maintain emotional control and adhere to safety protocols.
