Position Overview:
In accordance with DHS protocols, the armed guard force is responsible for all matters related to the security of the command. This includes providing safety for personnel, property, facilities, and assets; managing entry control points to deter unauthorized access; and safeguarding the facility against sabotage, theft, robbery, riots, lawlessness, demonstrations, and other incidents that could disrupt operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide security protection and access control.
- Protect all government property, classified materials, and personnel within assigned areas to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or destruction.
- Respond to unusual or emergency situations.
- Monitor for potential security, property, or safety concerns and take appropriate actions.
- Control ingress and egress into security areas.
- Report violations of security and safety rules.
- Respond to alarm signals and suspicious activities.
- Maintain knowledge of all security orders and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, legally eligible to work in the U.S., or a Lawful Permanent Resident with a verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the U.S. Armed Forces. Ability to pass NRA firearms qualification.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Must possess a Social Security Card issued by the SSA.
- At least two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience with a full-duty status in a U.S. municipal, state, or federal agency, with honorable resignation or retirement; or two (2) years of honorable service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Firearms training, qualifications, and certifications meeting state/federal standards.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, understanding, and writing English.
- Experience in securing facilities or vehicles at a fixed location.
- Physically capable of standing for a 12-hour shift.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to pass background, drug, physical, and suitability checks.
- Demonstrable proficiency with a handgun.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Heavy physical exertion, including lifting up to 200 pounds occasionally.
- Visual and auditory acuity for operation of vehicles, firearms, and equipment.
- Exposure to outdoor elements, high noise levels, and hazards such as moving machinery, electrical hazards, and chemicals.
- May need to wear a respirator.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and walk on uneven terrain.
- Meeting all physical and psychological standards required by the contract.
- Travel may be necessary.
