Primary Purpose Of Position

Protect the health and welfare of the public by defending the station against any act of radiological sabotage, attack, or theft of special nuclear material. Maintain a secure perimeter for site access and egress, and perform search, patrol, and inspections according to procedures and site security plan. The starting hourly rate is $24.36/hour (non-negotiable). Pay increases are possible upon successful completion of training and benchmarks. Employees meeting the criteria can earn up to $36+/hour after 3 years.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain qualifications for the position
• Conduct patrols and inspections
• Monitor access to security areas
• Perform search activities
• Respond to threats and contingency events
• Perform equipment testing
• Provide physical protection of nuclear facilities against intrusion and sabotage
• Conduct armed stationary, foot, and vehicle patrols (interior and exterior)
• Control access and egress of personnel, materials, and vehicles
• Monitor CCTV, surveillance, and alarm systems
• Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations
• Perform other duties as specified in training and post orders

Minimum Qualifications

• Pass state-required training or licensing
• Be at least 21 years old
• High School diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Pass drug test and background checks
• Pass state licensing test
• Operate radio, telephone, and surveillance equipment
• Complete all required training
• Communicate effectively with the public
• Pass physical, psychological, and firearms qualification tests
• Complete site-specific nuclear training

Preferred Qualifications

• Military experience
• Law enforcement or criminal justice background
• Prior armed security experience
