Job Summary

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and to interact with people, with an emphasis on professional service and customer relations. The Armed Security Officer should have a working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force. This position works closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description

Patrol Activity:

• Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
• Protects, secures, and safeguards all persons on SEH property.

Customer Relations:

• Provides way-finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
• Relates to customers, provides clear communication in a courteous, professional manner, and offers de-escalation techniques in various situations.

Operations Center:

• Monitors activity via CCTV and alarm systems.
• Handles radio and telephone communications effectively.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Completes reports, maintenance logs, and data entry professionally.
• Reviews roll call, emails, and pertinent information daily.
• Uses photographic documentation to supplement reports when appropriate.

Training:

• Completes mandatory and additional firearms training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• High School Diploma or GED with applicable Criminal Justice experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by the hospital insurance carrier.

Specialized Knowledge:

• Completed an accredited police academy firearms course or similar training.
• Passes Psychological Evaluation.
• Completes weapons retention training.

Experience:

• 6 months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience, or
• Current Sworn Law Enforcement Officer, or
• Honorably discharged Armed Forces member.

Non-Exempt
