Qualifications

• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist visitors and maintain security booths and vehicles.
• Monitor security systems and patrol grounds and buildings.
• Report unusual incidents and assist during emergency drills.

Job description

*This position requires an active Armed SLED security license, along with the physical card.*

Shifts:

• Full-Time: Monday - Friday, 1600-2400
• Part-Time: Saturday & Sunday, 0700-1500
• Part-Time: Saturday, Sunday & Monday, 0800-1600
• Part-Time/On-Call: Monday - Friday, on an 'As Needed' basis

Responsibilities:

• Assist visitors and the public.
• Maintain security booths and vehicles.
• Monitor security systems and equipment.
• Drive patrol car or golf cart to monitor activity and assist on-site.
• Raise and lower flags, monitor their condition, and replace as needed.
• Patrol grounds, buildings, and parking lots; secure the premises.
• Report unusual incidents or hazards and document incidents.
• Assist during Fire & Tornado drills and monitor designated areas.
• Help prevent vandalism, theft, malicious mischief, trespassing, active shooter situations, and misuse of facilities equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Active Armed SLED security license with physical card.
• Preferred: Prior security, military, and/or law enforcement experience.
• Certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, OC Spray, Taser, and Wand.
• Customer service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
• Open availability preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

• Physical fitness test.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking stairs, running, and self-defense capabilities.
