Overview
We are seeking highly skilled, experienced Armed Security Guards, well versed in physical security operations to join our team in support of security operations at the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Primary duties are to ensure the enforcement of contractual security obligations are met. The Guard is armed with a side arm.
This position is contingent upon contract award
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Security Shift Supervisor and inform them of unusual or emergency situations.
- Enforce all applicable standard operating procedures and government regulations related to security of weapons, buildings, personnel, government property, and equipment.
- Arrive in proper uniform and with required issued equipment; ensure the cleanliness of uniform and equipment.
- Exercise force up to, and including, deadly force when necessary.
- Participate in Guard Mount; carry out general and special orders for the assigned post.
- Communicate via radio, telephone, and orally according to orders (in English).
- Interact and escort, as required, with the public and government personnel.
- Provide access control, traffic control, and conduct walking armed security functions.
- Conduct personnel, vehicular, building, & facility checks, and inspect packages & parcels.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED minimum.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience with civilian police, military police, or civilian security organizations is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven security experience.
- Pass a Personal Security Background and NCIC Check prior to assignment.
- Fluent in English: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding.
- Complete all required training, permits, licenses, and certifications.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Verify identity and eligibility to work in the U.S. and complete employment verification upon hire.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
