Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an Armed Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role includes responding to emergencies, patrolling, monitoring cameras, and enforcing campus policies.

You will also assist with medical aid calls, screening, and access control, requiring vigilance and professional judgment. Required: High School Diploma or GED, Florida security licenses (D and G) within specified timeframes, CPR and self-defense certifications

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Licensure: Florida Class D and G firearms licenses required within specified onboarding windows.
• CPR and self-defense certifications to be obtained within 12 months.
• Experience with security equipment, cameras, alarms, and access control.
• HIPAA knowledge and healthcare security procedures.
• Must pass physical fitness and psychological screenings.

This position is responsible for responding promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including active threats and alarm activations, while enforcing institutional policies such as the weapons-free campus. The officer conducts regular security patrols, monitors surveillance systems, and investigates incidents to uphold safety standards. Additionally, the role involves assisting with calls for medical aid, managing sensitive situations like employee terminations and prisoner security, and providing exceptional customer service by supporting screening processes, access control, and visitor assistance.
