Job description

At Tier One, we believe every child deserves to feel safe enough to learn, and every teacher deserves to teach without fear. As an Armed School Security Officer, you'll be the professional who makes that possible, the person students know by name, the calm presence on an ordinary day, and the one everyone depends on when it matters most.

If you've worn a badge, served in the military, worked in security, or simply feel called to protect others, you already understand that real security is about earning trust, not just carrying a firearm.

What You’ll Do

Working under the direction of your School Security Supervisor, you will:

  • Protect students, faculty, staff, visitors, and school property through a highly visible, professional security presence.
  • Serve as the primary security professional assigned to your campus.
  • Build trusted relationships with students, families, educators, administrators, and local law enforcement.
  • Foster a welcoming, safe, and respectful campus environment.
  • Enforce applicable laws, school policies, and security procedures with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Monitor visitor management, access control, surveillance systems, and campus activity.
  • Identify, investigate, and respond to suspicious activity or security concerns.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and maintain state compliance.
  • Serve as the campus subject‑matter expert for emergency planning, preparedness, and training.
  • Deliver age‑appropriate presentations on safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Support responding law enforcement and emergency personnel during critical incidents.
  • Prepare accurate reports, documentation, and administrative records.
What You’ll Need
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED (college coursework or degree preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License.
  • Ability to legally possess and carry a firearm while performing assigned duties.
  • Ability to pass all background investigations, drug screening, and licensing requirements.
  • Excellent communication, report‑writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet Tier One's physical and professional performance standards.
Who Thrives Here

The best people in this role are calm under pressure, emotionally mature, and dependable. Retired or former law enforcement officers, military veterans, and licensed Texas Commissioned Security Officers all do well here, as do newcomers ready to earn their license through our academy. What they share is sound judgment, genuine respect for others, and a commitment to protecting children and serving their community.

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation as a W‑2 employee
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and critical‑care insurance
  • Monday–Friday schedules aligned with school calendars (based on assignment)
  • Holidays and summers off. These breaks are unpaid but ideal for anyone who values that time with family & community
  • Company‑paid uniforms and equipment
  • Paid training and continuing education
  • FREE Tier One Security Academy for qualified candidates
  • Company‑paid Texas Level III licensing fees upon successful academy completion
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • A culture built on professionalism, service, accountability, and teamwork
No License? We’ll Help You Earn It.

We believe character matters more than credentials. If you have the desire to serve but don’t yet hold a Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License, qualified candidates may attend our FREE five‑day Tier One Security Academy — intensive, instructor‑led training from experienced law enforcement and military professionals. There is no tuition or training cost, our curriculum exceeds minimum licensing standards, and upon successful completion and satisfaction of all state requirements, Tier One pays your Texas Level III licensing fees.

We don’t simply hire employees — we develop professionals.
