Armed Public Safety Officer, Full Time - Rotating

Job Overview

This is a full-time, onsite position based in the greater Chicagoland area, within a world-class academic healthcare system. The Armed Public Safety Officer provides a safe environment for employees, patients, visitors, and staff through patrols, emergency response, customer service, and policy enforcement at all Ingalls facilities. This is an armed position requiring specific qualifications and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergencies such as fire, bomb threats, armed threats, and lockdowns, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct patrols of facilities and grounds to identify safety issues and suspicious activity.
  • Secure sensitive areas and enforce policies including access control, identification, parking, and safety regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, document safety hazards, and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and fire services, and complete incident reports promptly.
  • Assist with dispatch operations, conduct searches, provide transportation, and support clinical staff as needed.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and communicate effectively in stressful situations.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Illinois FOID Card
  • State of Illinois 40-Hour Armed Security Officer Certification (Semi-Automatic firearm)
Preferred
  • 1-2 years of public safety or military experience
  • State Firearm Control Card, CPR, CPI certifications
  • IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Certification within six months
  • FEMA ICS 100 and 200 courses within six months
Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $24.00/hr - $32.00/hr, based on skills and experience. Benefits details available on the company's website.

Additional Details
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to work in various conditions including extreme temperatures and loud environments.
