Job summary

Penn State University is seeking an Armed Public Safety Officer (APSO) to support Department of Defense facilities at the University’s Applied Research Laboratory. The APSO will protect sensitive materials and enhance employee safety within a mission-driven environment.

Successful candidates will excel in customer service, possess strong communication skills, and adhere to ethical standards. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and required certifications are mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

• 0 to 1 year of relevant experience required.
• A current PA Act 235 certification is preferred.
• Must be eligible for and able to successfully complete all PA Act 235 training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce University and Department of Defense regulations.
• Patrol designated buildings to ensure security controls are functional.
• Conduct preliminary investigations of security and safety incidents.
