Description

Job overview: The Armed Protective Security Officer (Level II) is responsible for providing security services as outlined in contract agreements, adhering to the Post Orders prepared by the client, and ensuring the safety and security of assigned areas. This role requires strict adherence to security protocols, especially in emergency situations, and includes responsibilities such as guarding designated areas, monitoring activities, and reporting incidents. Armed Security Guards must be familiar with all post orders and prepared to follow them diligently throughout each shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as prescribed by the Post Orders prepared by the client for each assigned post and shift.
  • Ensure duties do not deviate from responsibilities outlined in the Post Orders unless in an emergency.
  • Stay at the post until properly relieved, as required by certain post orders.
  • Familiarize yourself with post orders at each assigned post prior to duties or during the allowed mount time if advance notice is limited.

Duty-Specific Guidelines:

  • Access/Egress Control: Monitor entry points, prevent unauthorized access, and report violations.
  • Security Screening: Screen individuals, packages, and vehicles; report or detain persons with unlawful items.
  • Visitor Processing: Assist and direct visitors; be knowledgeable about the facility layout and tenants.
  • Patrol and Response: Perform fixed and roving patrols, respond to alarms, and report suspicious activity or emergencies.
  • Traffic Control: Direct vehicular/pedestrian traffic and monitor for suspicious behavior when required.
  • Building Rules: Enforce facility rules and report/detain violators as directed.
  • Emergencies: Respond per Post Orders and report hazardous conditions or incidents requiring professional help.

Additional notes: Must remain at posts until properly relieved, responsible for logs, incident reports, and maintaining situational awareness.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions outlined in post orders.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively report incidents and communicate with supervisors and teammates.
  • Ability to respond quickly and remain calm under emergency or high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Proficiency in handling and maintaining firearms, as well as other security-related equipment.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least two years of security or police experience, or two years of active duty military service, or National Guard/reserve military experience or law enforcement.
  • Education & Certification:
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Possession of active Federal, State, and Local Firearms permits, as applicable for the assigned post.
  • Must possess all state/local licenses, permits, registrations, or certifications required to perform the responsibilities of the Armed Security Guard position.
  • Must have CPR / First Aid / AED Certificate.
  • Baton and/or OC Spray Certification.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current or prior military and/or security experience is highly preferred.
