Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Security Director or designee, the off-duty Armed Police Officer (APO) is responsible for protecting the facility’s assets, people, and programs. The APO maintains a positive security image by being highly visible and vigilant to fire, health, safety hazards, and criminal threats. The APO takes immediate corrective action on violations or deficiencies to minimize harm and works closely with hospital staff to ensure a safe environment.

Qualifications:

• Must be a police academy graduate.
• Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certification/training.
• Ongoing law enforcement training documentation as regulated by the Law Enforcement Agency.
• Must be a sworn, commissioned police officer employed with the Kansas City Police Department.
