Job summary

Brookfield Zoo Chicago is seeking a Probationary Patrol Officer. This full-time, hourly, union role provides armed police duties to protect life and property, enforce laws and park rules, and support guest safety.

Requires IL police training, field officer program, and robust report writing with response to emergencies, medical aid, and coordination with dispatch. The position includes rotating shifts, training, and comprehensive benefits through the union.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NIPSTA P.O.W.E.R. Test card within 12 months prior to hire.
• Complete IL Police Academy training within one year to become certified.
• BZC Field Training Officer program completion.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Brookfield Zoo Chicago property and enforce park rules.
• Prepare field reports and required paperwork per procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and dispatch calls; secure scenes as needed.
• Maintain incident cards, monitor fire alarm systems, and aid guests.
• Provide onsite medical support and first aid; assist police units.
